Desert Sunset is a banded iron formation that is comprised of alternating layers of red and yellow jasper and chert with narrow bands of black hematite

An as yet unidentified stromatolite, form of Pseudogymnosolenid type. The stromatolite occurs as small digitate columns which are finely laminated. It probably grew in shallow water conditions with intermittent subaerial exposure. From an unassigned unit of the Wyloo Group. Age is approx. 1. 8 billion years. From south west of Newman Western Australia. Approx. 145 mm x 60 mm x 8. 5 mm thick.
