Germany, Heer. A Gebirgsjäger Em/Nco’s M43 Field Cap Auction the Battle of Verdun(Gebirgsjger M43 Feldmtze). An extremely well preserved Heer Gebirgsjger EM NCOs M43 field cap, constructed of field grey wool. The cap features fold down side panels offering ear and neck protection which, when not in use, are held together by a brown bakelite button on the right flap meeting a reinforced buttonhole on the left flap. Sewn into the left flap is a zink edelweiss with a gilded magnetic metal centerpiece, measuring 38 mm (w) x 58 mm (h).
